Another Move

I know that my friends and family are having trouble keeping up with the goings-on in my life, but I’m now about to make it a little harder.  I have resigned from my position at Austral Church of Christ and Sunday, 14 February 2010 was my last Sunday with the congregation at Austral.

It was a bittersweet day as I was quite disappointed to have made this decision to not continue my ministry with them.  I have grown quite fond of the members and friends of that church, but, the fact is, that I just do not have the skills nor experience to lead them out of the stage of development that they are in.  Unfortunately, that church is still in a maintenance-mode.  It’s not that they don’t want more for themselves and their ministry.  The problem is that they have not yet completed the required reflection and planning and prayer to move themselves to the next level, the level at which a person like me would be quite useful to them.

My prayers are very much with the people at Austral.  I believe that there are yet many opportunities for them and I pray for God’s blessing to remain upon them.  As for me, I am taking up a position as an associate minister at St. John’s Sutherland church.  My responsibilities will be for the leadership and development of their Sunday night congregation as well as to develop further their youth and young adult ministries.  I am very excited about this new role, although I am a little ‘gun shy’ since my experiences in ministry have not been altogether positive.  God is good, all the time, and I believe that his hand is evident in this move.

I’ll keep you posted …
