The ABC Religion & Ethics portal published the following article today, one which I wholeheartedly recommend that you, and everyone, read:
“Seeking God but finding Allah” by Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
The author outlines some very important issues in the subversive promulgation of Islam in Western countries. For instance, our non-critical appeasement of Islam plays right into the hands of Radical Islamists, as it reinforces their assessment of Western culture: that we are weak, with little or no moral conviction.
While those who have given no thought to the issues that the author outlines will recoil from her suggestion as being intolerant or extreme, I can only suggest that you open your eyes and ears and think much more hard and fast about these issues than you have before. This is a clash of worldviews and, it is a fact, Western societies are built upon a very solid foundation of Christianity. It is such a foundation that has provided the impetus for our work ethic and our tolerance, to just name two very positive values contributed by Christianity. The same cannot be said for Islam and Arabic/Middle Eastern societies, as is evidenced by the religious persecution in those societies and the socio-economic status of far too many Lebanese Muslims in Australia.
