Personally, I’m not a fan of the USA. I certainly don’t go out of my way to keep track of their news and public opinion. However, an issue is being debated there, with a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, that really cannot be ignored by anybody the world-over.

Islam claims to be the fasting-growing religion in the world today. This expansion is achieved partly through the relatively high birth rate of Muslim societies but also through dawa, by which people are persuaded to adopt its values and outlook.
Whether you’re a pastor or involved in any other form of employment, disrupting our rhythms for the sake of creativity and life enhancement is always a worthwhile pursuit.
In personal development, “do not put off till tomorrow what can be done today” really is a key concept (the best ones are usually this simple). The fact is, we can make all sorts of plans for ourselves, our families, our careers that we want to, but unless we start actually acting on those plans, they will never be fulfilled. Which, again, goes without saying; yet, how many of us are stuck in this trap? I know I am.
Here is a point missed by most people, and by some intentionally: Ethics is not inherently, nor necessarily, secular (i.e. non-religious).
Scott Monk, in this month’s edition of Quadrant Online, has written a most excellent article which tastefully, but forcefully, outlines why it is important to maintain reference to the Bible, its stories and its values in the public education of our nation’s children.
